What started as a just somewhere for a few tank owner friends to drive has evolved into quite a large driving area that we are continually improving. As with all things modelling we have grand plans that hopefully we can achieve.
It all started in 2019 when we had the sediment cleaned out of the dam, it made for quite a large mound of earth - I had some old curved aluminium sheets left over from a completed work project that I thought would make a good tunnel through this mound. So after quite a few hours on the little tractor a had a rough tunnel. Our first drive day was a very enjoyable event though it was quite hot and dry but quite motivational to do better next time.Over the following years the evolution was a little slow at the start trying to work out what to do with the biggest challenge being able to comprehend the size of everything. It all looks good when you draw it and measure it out but once you put the tanks on the ground you realise just how small you have made everything and to get that perfect photo you need a lot of space.
The next drive day we had a small section of track laid and the railway station built but not painted. Then we had a very wet, wet season which meant a bit more work had to be done. The down-side of building a temporary structure an expecting it to last. Next on the must have list was the water tower. The next drive day shows a few more improvements and upgrades. Some quickly assembled rails cars and a temporary structure at the end of the rails, just trying to get ideas and scale size.
